This picture was taken on Saturday morning, June 24, 2000 a few miles west of Idaho Falls, Idaho, at the South Eastern Idaho Practical Shooters' range. This is a picture of me, Randy Mays, taken during an IPSC match. Notice the simultaneous look of determination, dedication, and disorientation, all typical of my participation in this sport. Although you can't see it, I am carrying an H&K USP .45 pistol, and I used this pistol in the match without any problems. As noted before, the USP will not drop an empty magazine when the slide is locked back, but when you're in the middle of a match, it is no problem whatsoever to rip out an empty magazine and insert a full one. The American requirement for "drop free" magazines is nice, but you can live without this capability (nevertheless, I'm taking a Springfield 1911 to the next match - the whole point of the USP was to convert it to .40 Super...). By the way, if you want to get a very good sunburn right above your eyebrows, wear one of these head scarf deals. Wonderful idea...

Here's some other photos from the match. Nice range. Nice people.
